Capital Concrete Debuts Low-Carbon Concrete For London Development
Capital Concrete has partnered with construction engineering specialist Keltbray to supply London’s first anchor pile using Earth Friendly Concrete (EFC®) at Landsec’s landmark Nova East development in London’s Victoria. The Nova East Development near Victoria Station will house new offices, shops and homes and is a part of the redevelopment planned for the whole area.
The 25 metre deep, 900mm diameter anchor pile using the zero-cement, geopolymer concrete made by Australian materials firm Wagners. This innovative product typically offers a 75% - 87% saving in embodied carbon compared to standard concrete piling mixes and so helps to reduce the carbon footprint associated with concrete use in construction projects.
The product was also supplied in conventional mixer truck from Capital Concrete’s Silvertown plant which gets most of its raw materials by river, further reducing carbon footprint.
